Courage+
Rebranding a non-profit to thrive on a national stage.
Courage+ is a nonprofit providing safe, inclusive housing, trauma-informed care, and affirming services for LGBTQ+ youth. It started at the most human level—foster parents opening their home to kids who weren’t being seen or supported by the system. As they put it, “it’s impossible to feel safe when you don’t feel seen.”
That realization led to something bigger: the launch of Courage MKE and Wisconsin’s first LGBTQ+-focused group home for youth in the state system. From there, it grew into transitional housing for young adults, a gender-affirming salon, advocacy work, and research to better understand and serve this community.
Eventually, their ambition outgrew Milwaukee. They came to us to expand their reach — and help even more LGBTQ+ youth feel safe, seen, and supported.
